A Personal Note From Jacob Lord, Client Associate, About His Passions and Pets

Q. What first attracted you to the investment industry?
A. I discovered the stock market through podcasts when I was 17 and quickly got my hands on The Intelligent Investor to learn as much as I could. When I started college that fall, I joined every finance-related organization I could. After many sleepless nights studying on Investopedia before the interview, I was fortunate to join the Southern Investment Association.

Q. Where have you not traveled that you would like to travel?
A. The number one destination on my bucket list is Florence, Italy. I have always enjoyed learning about the Renaissance and have long been fascinated by the work of Leonardo da Vinci.

Q. What do you enjoy learning about outside of work?
A. I’ve always enjoyed learning about history and psychology, especially what motivates people and why major events unfolded the way they did.

Q. What was your experience like at Georgia Southern?
A. Georgia Southern taught me how important relationships are throughout life. The classes provided valuable knowledge, but the people I met and the experiences I had outside the classroom made a lasting impact on me.

Q. What else can you tell us about your background?
A. I grew up on a farm, which may not seem connected to what I do now. Looking back, though, it taught me important life lessons from an early age and helped shape my work ethic and curiosity.

Q. When did you get your first pet?
A. I got my first dog, Macy, when I was ten. She was a tiny Yorkie–Shih Tzu mix, but she would often help us herd cattle and had no fear. I also grew up around horses and adopted one of my own, Bella, when I was sixteen.
